Zeke is home from tail amputation surgery. He had surgery on Friday and came home that same afternoon.
Poor Zeke has a bald rear end and a really short tail nub. His tail is very swollen, bruised and painful. We had to take Zeke back in for a re-check with the doctor on Saturday. His tail puffed up with swelling over night and the pain meds weren't helping him. The doctor upped the pain medication dosage for him. The swelling is normal.
Zeke has been able rest now and get some sleep. He also is showing that he doesn't feel the pain as much. You can see him smiling at me this morning (picture below :)
I took these photos this morning. You can see the swelling in his short, bald tail. His tail looks much better in these pictures than it does in person. Most of the bruising is on the underside of his tail.
Zeke was even playing with me this morning and smiling :) See, he is a Lab. Lovable and happy, always!

Zeke has his last chemo treatment on the 29th and the stitches come out of his tail in the 30th.

Wow! I still can not believe Zeke had to get his tail amputated. Poor guy. Hopefully he will heal fast and you will have one less thing to worry about (no more wrapping, cleaning, rewrapping, etc).
